Minimal Spring Decor Ideas That Last (2024)

Springtime in Southern Utah could be many things. It could be warm and sunny with a slight breeze, chilly and overcast, or windy as heck with the bitter cold to match. I feel like just today I have had all three. And those three are just a few of the many oddities we deal with in spring. Lets say it just hasn’t felt like spring yet here, and so I have been putting off updating my home decor this year….but it was finally time! This year, I went minimal, simple spring decor, and focused on only including items I truly love. So let’s talk about some simple spring decor ideas, as I share a few rooms in my home.

Usually as spring begins, I bust out all the greenery, lighten things up and add all the springtime touches….but you know what? This year, I decided to go very, very minimal, focusing on creating a beautiful space, adding pops of greenery as my spring decor this year, and just keeping things very simple.

I think my main goal was to create a space that would not have to be changed out so soon…and will hold through all the way until summer. Since Easter has already passed, I took down my few Easter decorations, and focused solely on adding a few new pieces of artwork, and of course a new rug from Mohawk.

So lets talk about some minimal spring decor ideas:

First off, I want to welcome you to my home…and into my entryway. As I thought about how I wanted to decorate this space, I decided to keep my vintage church pew because…why not.

I have been wanting to hang some of my horse photography I took this winter, and so I hung one of my favorite ones above the church pew. I added a few simple pillows to my church pew with some of my favorite colors white and a bit of black. You will notice a theme here today. I have added a bit more texture as well as some new pillows with black and white detail.

I really wanted to capture a view from my entryway into my office/studio. I sit at this desk and can look right out the window as enjoy the day as I work. It really is a great place to spend my time working. This is the space where I do most of my paintings, and thus you will see a ton of them stacked behind my desk. My chair is so cozy, and I added a simple jute rug for a bit of softness on top of the concrete floors.

If you have seen any of my home tours before, once you pass through the entryway, down the hall you come upon my living room.

There were a few things I decided to do in this room to freshen it up for spring. I was going to take my curtains down, but really was still loving them, so they stayed. The biggest thing I changed was adding the new rug, editing down my mantel and pieces of furniture in the space.

I rearranged the room to give it more of a cozy feel while not feeling tight and cluttered. One thing you may notice is my coffee table. I changed it up a bit. We actually cut off the two ends, giving it a more unique shape…I am so in love. You can see how we made it here.

Let’s talk about this rug for a minute as well. This is called the Mali by Under The Canopy in Grey. I love the design, its so soft and comfortable under foot. It looks to be black in many photos, but it actually is a combination of a dark grey and dark blue, mixed together under the design.

Isn’t it pretty? The little bit of subtle color it has really works well in my living room.

I grounded the rug with my coffee table and camel leather couch.

Speaking of my leather couch…this beast has been through us for so many years, it’s practically a member of the family. I added some new pillows and my favorite striped blanket.

Now, let’s talk about my fireplace for a minute. We are actually still using our fireplace still so I couldn’t really decorate it too much.

The focal point of our fireplace this year is my husband antelope mount. This is something he has had since he was a teenager, and it was something he hunted himself. I think he was thrilled when I asked if he would bring it home from his office. You see, it had been sent to his office years ago, because I was not interested in having it in my home just yet.

I find that I am truly loving keeping my mantel simple this year. I added a simple olive branch tree to one side, and some black candlesticks to the other.

This area is so cozy, its just one of my favorite spots. From these windows, we can see Bryce Canyon National Park, surrounded by farms and apple orchards. Yes my views are dreamy…they are the main reason I cannot leave this home just yet.

Off in the corner, I added a simple wicker chair along with simple fold down table and antique chair. My kids love to color and draw in the living room, and usually park them selves right here in front of the coffee table. I decided they needed another place to do this.

This room has always been the hardest room for me to decorate. It is central to the home. It is used to watch movies, meet with friends, and is always seen. It is also the thoroughfare to the backyard, so you need to make sure to think about traffic patterns. The large windows and fireplace really minimize the amount of ways that I can decorate the room.

But it is also a space I love. Sitting by the roaring fire during the winter and spring months is almost heavenly. Even today, it was so cold outside I was able to snuggle by the fire after a day at church.

Now, moving on from my living room I just want to share a bit more….

I wanted to share my dining room, which I shared a full tour of a few weeks ago. You can see it here. I Love this space as well, and I wanted to point out the rug in this room. This rug is also from Mohawk home and you can get it here if you are interested. It’s one I got a couple years ago. It has been one of my most favorite rugs. Its held up beautifully and has spent time in many rooms in my home.

The light blue/aqua color is a nice pop of color for the otherwise neutral space.

I love when the weather begins to warm up, and the trees begin to blossom. It refreshes my soul and gets me excited for summer. But for now, I will enjoy the spring and all the crazy weather that comes with it!

I hope you enjoy this home tour with spring decor ideas. Sometimes decorating for spring is as simple as adding a new rug, updating a space by taking out the curtains, or adding new pillows to the couch. It doesn’t have to scream spring. This way, you can live with it for a long time without feeling as if you are stuck in a specific season.

Did you find something you couldn’t live without? I’ve collected exact and similar items from my home to make your shopping easier! Just click the image to be taken directly to the product!
